Master of Research  - Domestic Students

Standard Entry Requirements

The Master of Research (MRes) is Macquarie University's two year (equivalent full-time) research training pathway program to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil).

The Master of Research program equips students with intensive research preparation before beginning doctoral study. The minimum requirement for admission to an MRes degree is:

• Bachelor or higher award from a recognised institution
• MQ毕业生(2020年起):整体WAM为65+，WAM为70+，达到或超过3000水平
• All Other Applicants: Minimum overall GPA of 4.38 on a 7 point scale and GPA of 5.25 at or above 3000 level
• A research proposal (a short paragraph is sufficient).

Year 1: Bachelor of Philosophy

The first year of the Master of Research program is referred to as the Bachelor of Philosophy (BPhil). Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Philosophy, students will automatically progress into Year 2.

When applying for admission into the program, please select the relevant BPhil course on your application.

Year 2: Master of Research

Recognition of Prior Learning

Master of Research - International Students

Master of Research - Additional Entry Requirements

Faculty of Arts

Educational Studies (EDST)

A GPA of at least 5.25 on a 7-point scale (=70 WAM*) overall, and at least 5.69 on a 7-point scale (=75 WAM*) at or above the 3000-level (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree is required.

Law (LAW)

A higher level of English proficiency is required. See English Language Requirements below.

Sociology (SOC)

A GPA of at least 5.25 on a 7-point scale (=70 WAM*) overall and at least 5.69 on a 7-point scale (=75 WAM*) at or above the 3000-level (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree is required.

Philosophy (PHIL)

Mathematics (MATH)

Master of Philosophy

Doctor of Philosophy (Cotutelle and Joint PhD)

A Cotutelle and Joint PhD program 是两所大学联合招收的博士项目吗, and spends time at each university. A candidate is jointly supervised by academic/research staff at each institution and upon successful completion of the program, 候选人可以同时从两所大学毕业并获得哲学博士学位, or equivalent title.

Macquarie University requires all research candidates to have and maintain a high level of English language proficiency.

Applicants will need to demonstrate they have met the high level of English language proficiency required for our Research programs, through one of the following requirements:

Please note:
Citizens, passport holders and permanent residents of the above listed English speaking countries are not exempt from providing proof of English language proficiency in the form of an acceptable English language test score unless they can show evidence of at least 5 years study in one or more of these countries.

Two:
You have a valid English language proficiency test. The test must not be more than two 申请麦考瑞大学时的年龄:¹

If you are applying for a research degree in English Literature or Law you will need to meet the required levels of English proficiency required by those programs:

• English Literature (in Media, Communications, Culture, Languages, and Literature): IELTS overall score of 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in writing and 6.5 in all other categories
• Macquarie Law School: IELTS score of 7.0 overall, and a minimum of 6.5 in any category.

¹Applicants who wish to seek an exemption to the requirement to provide English Language test scores on the grounds of a minimum of 3 (three) years working experience or equivalent in an English speaking country will be asked to provide a letter from their employer, or equivalent, on an official letterhead which states their position title, the duties they undertook and an idea of what level of English was spoken and how English was used in terms of written or verbal communication, ，以获得学院副院长的认可，并向评审委员会提出建议.

Three:
You have successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree in Australia (Australian Qualification Framework AQF7) or higher within two years of submitting your application.

Four:
